Opposition Congress MLA From Yanam on Padayatra to Famous Shrine in AP

PUDUCHERRY: Opposition Congress MLA from Yanam, Malladi Krishna Rao, is on a four day padayatra from his home town Yanam to Antarvedi in Andhra Pradesh to offer worship at a 15th century shrine there tomorrow, for the welfare of the people and his consistuency.

Rao started his padayatra yesterday.

A release from his office said that Rao, a former Revenue minister of Puducherry, who had been holding the lone constituency in Yanam in all elections he contested since 1996 to the territorial Assembly, commenced his journey after worshipping at various shrines in Yanam.

He is accompanied by his wife and his son and around 3000 volunteers.He would reach Antarvedi tomorrow and offer worship at the 15th century shrine of Lakshminarashima Swamy there.

The release said this was Rao's sixth annual padayatra to the temple.

He would return to Yanam on January 26 after praying to the presiding deity in the shrine. The total distance between Yanam and Antarvedi is around 80 kms.
