Affiliation of Private Institution Revoked in 2015

VILLUPURAM:  While mystery shrouds the death of three girls of a private naturopathy and yoga college, whose bodies were fished out of a farm well near the college campus on Saturday, sources on Sunday confirmed that the institution lost its medical university affiliation in May 2015 owing to lack of facilities.

According to sources, the college was opened in February 2006 after procuring a no objection certificate (NOC) from the State government.

In September 2006, the Central Council of Homeopathy denied accreditation to the college, citing lack of basic amenities.

The college management took the issue to the Supreme Court, which favoured the decision of the council. All this while, the college functioned with the affiliation of Dr M G R Medical University at Guindy, Chennai. After complaints against the institution, the university cancelled its affiliation in May 2015 and informed the students to join the college at their own risk.
