Penalty if Firms Don't Remit PF Share Online

CHENNAI: Employers who fail to pay provident fund contributions through Internet Banking could be penalised from next month, according to Regional Provident Fund Commissioner II, S Murugavel.

Addressing reporters here on Monday, Murugavel, entrusted with Tambaram, Puducherry and Vellore sub-regional office, said this comes after the Union government’s notification to make it mandatory for all employers to pay PF contributions only through Internet.

Meanwhile, EPFO has come out with a mobile application which will benefit pensioners.

The application can be downloaded either through Google Play store or through EPFO website (www.epfindia.gov.in).

The pensioners have to punch in their Universal Account Number to access their pension disbursement details.

The EPFO has abolished the five-day grace period for employers for remittance of contribution from February 2016.

Digital signatures have also been made mandatory and employers have to submit Forms digitally.
