CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa’s health condition continues to improve and the same line of treatment is being continued, according to the latest bulletin from the Apollo Hospitals, where she has been undergoing treatment since September 22. The bulletin added that the Chief Minister is under close observation by a team of doctors and has been advised further stay in the hospital for treatment.
Earlier on Tuesday, the Madras High Court asked the Tamil Nadu Additional Advocate General to get instructions from the State government on the health of the Chief Minister. Observing that the citizens of this State have a right to know the health condition of their Chief Minister, Madras High Court has directed the Additional Advocate-General to obtain instructions from the authorities on the issue and to inform the court on Thursday (October 6). A division bench gave the direction on Tuesday, when ‘Traffic’ KR Ramaswamy made a mention before the bench to take up his PIL filed on Monday.
The bench said though the hospital authorities have issued some statements, the government was duty-bound to provide the status of her health. The PIL prayed for a direction to the Secretaries to Governor and Health Department and chairman of Apollo Hospitals to make public full details about the health condition of Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa along with her photograph.
His interim prayer was to consider appointing an interim Chief Minister, if the CM needed prolonged stay at the hospital.
The PIL said the government ought to clarify to the public what the condition of the Chief Minister was and what was the real health problem she was facing, with photo evidence to prove that she is conscious, taking official decisions and issuing instructions to perform the day-to-day affairs of the government.
