CHENNAI: Apparently irked over the alleged refusal of Tamil Nadu Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao to act upon the memorandums submitted by 19 rebel AIADMK members withdrawing their support to Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, DMK working president M K Stalin on Wednesday accused him of acting like a middleman doing business by covering their hands in a fish yard.

“You all must have seen the Governor joining the hands of OPS and EPS. He has done like selling fish by covering the hands with a towel to determine the price after bringing back the cache from the sea,” he told reporters answering a question whether BJP’s intervention was there in the activity of the Governor.
Stalin added, “He has brought immense disrepute to the office of Governor and democracy.”

Not only DMK but also the other opposition parties in the State have been baffled by the stand adopted by Vidyasagar Rao who said the 19 rebels continued to be AIADMK members. He had told this to a delegation of four parties, CPM, CPI, VCK and MMK, when the leaders called on him on Wednesday with a memorandum to order a floor test. All these four parties do not have representation in the State Assembly.

Stalin, while answering another question, noted that the same Governor, who is saying now the ball is not in my court, had ordered convening the Assembly when OPS (O Panneerselvam) demanded it.
“Why is he not doing so now? We will take a decision after eliciting views of legal experts whether we can use the ball DMK has got,” the Leader of Opposition fumed.
