PUDUCHERRY: Opposition AIADMK (Amma) in Puducherry today sought a probe by a retired High court judge into the "bungling and irregularities" in admission of students in PG courses by private medical colleges without the candidates undergoing counselling by the CENTAC here.
Leader of the AIADMK (Amma) legislature wing, A Anbalagan said the Medical Council of India had directed "discharge" of 95 students admitted by private medical colleges without the candidates undergoing counselling by CENTAC.
This is a clear case of violation of rules and hence the MCI had annulled the admission by seven private medical colleges into the PG courses, he said.
He said the Lt Governor should spare no effort to fill the 95 seats now falling vacant in the wake of the MCI directive with eligible candidates.
"The government should also order a probe by a retired High Court judge into the bungling and irregularities in admission in the private colleges," he added.
He also felt that chief minister V Narayanasamy should also explain as to how this "bungling" had happened.
