Promotion to AMTOs: Stay  extended by 4 more weeks

THE interim order to maintain status-quo in the matter of promotions as Assistant Motor Transport Officers (AMTO) for 2012-13 has been extended by four more weeks by the Madras High Court.

CHENNAI: THE interim order to maintain status-quo in the matter of promotions as Assistant Motor Transport Officers (AMTO) for 2012-13 has been extended by four more weeks by the Madras High Court.

Justice T Raja ordered the extension, when a writ petition filed by J Srinivasan, attached to TN Special Police (TSP) Motor Transport Group/Driver, Head-Constables Battalion, Tiruchy, came up again on Monday.
Earlier, Yogesh Kannadasan contended that the seniority of the petitioner had been overlooked in the combined seniority list of Havildar (MT) for promotion as Assistant Motor Transport Officer(AMTO) for 2012-13. He cannot be overlooked by bringing one Balamurugan who is a junior, above the petitioner, he added.
Conceding the contention of Yogesh, Justice Raja ordered status quo on March 17 last. When the matter came up again on March 24, the judge ordered the continuation of the operation of the interim order. When it again came up on Monday, the judge extended the stay by four more weeks.
