Retired IAS officer Malik Feroze Khan takes over as the new State Election Commissioner of Tamil Nadu

The post was lying vacant since the two-year term of former SEC P Seetharaman ended on March 22.

CHENNAI: Retired IAS officer Malik Feroze Khan has been appointed as the new State Election Commissioner (SEC) for Tamil Nadu. He assumed charge at 11 am on Friday at the office of the State Election Commission at Koyambedu.

The post was lying vacant since the two-year term of former SEC P Seetharaman ended on March 22. 

Khan superannuated from IAS service on March 31, 2004.

Khan’s appointment is significant as the Madras High Court had directed the government to hold the local body polls before May 14.
