The Chief Minister on Wednesday doubled the financial assistance disbursed to the families of farmers and farm workers who die of natural causes. The government has been so far giving Rs 10,000 as aid to them under the Chief Minister’s Farmers’ Security Scheme (FSS).
From now on, this assistance would be hiked to D20,000. The FSS was launched by late CM J Jayalalithaa in 2005. Assistance for education, marriage and maternity and old age pension are given to the family members of farmers under the scheme which was expanded in 2011.
