TIRUNELVELI: Radhapuram MLA I S Inbadurai petitioned Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami to take necessary steps to rescue four fishermen from Idinthakarai who ventured into the sea just before the onset of cyclone Ockhi. The fishermen have been missing ever since the cyclone unleashed its fury en route to the Lakshadweep islands.

The fishermen namely T Amuthan, S Ajin, A Tolasal and S Livingston are native of Radhapuram taluk. Among these, Amuthan and Ajin have been residing at Thoothoor of Kanniyakumari district and undertaking fishing.Similarly, Tolasal and Livingston are  from Gujarat and ventured into the Arabian Sea recently. However, information about all the four fishermen’s whereabouts are unclear and the family members haven’t heard any word from them since the onset of cyclone Ockhi. Meanwhile, relatives of the missing fishers have petitioned the fisheries department to rescue their beloved ones.

While the exact extent  of damage to life and property is yet to be properly ascertained, contrasting claims from the government agencies and the fishermen families have been causing untold misery to the families of the people stranded or feared drowned in the seas.
