First paper of CBSE plus-two exams easy but lengthy

CHENNAI: The central board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Plus 2 and class 10 examinations kicked off on Thursday with the English paper. Even though the students found the paper lengthy, they said it was easy. Most of the students completed answering the paper on time. 


The Plus 2 exam began with students taking English Core, English Elective-NCERT and English Elective- CBSE. The students whom Express spoke to said the paper was easy but lengthy. 


Nivedha Rangarajan a student said the grammar portion was very easy. The paper comprised reading, writing and literature. “The grammar portion was very easy. But the writing section was lengthy yet I hope to score around 90 per cent,” she said. 


Anirudh Bhat and Vishal Jawahar from PSBB school said they found section C Literature and long writing time consuming. “It was not difficult at all. Everything was easy but literature was time consuming,” said Anirudh. “But three hours was enough and we were trained to answer such lengthy papers,” said Vishal. Both of them aspire to join IIT Madras. 


Even though the paper was lengthy V Aarthi finished half an hour early. “Section B writing skills I found very easy, yet it was a bit lengthy according to the other students. I didn’t find it lengthy and finished half an hour early,” she said. 


A total of 10,98,891 students registered all across the country with a 2.82 per cent increase from last year’s count. In Chennai alone, 59,014 students registered for the Plus 2 examination of which 33,650 were boys and 25,364 were girls. There are 466 centres and 935 schools which are conducting the class 12 examination. 


Class 10 exam began with vocation courses including dynamics of retailing, beauty and wellness, security, automobile technology, information technology and others. In Chennai, the total number of students registered for class 10 examination based on school is 24,153 and total number of students registered based on board is 1,54,401.
