CHENNAI: Kickstarting campaign in RK Nagar on Monday, former Chief Minister and head of AIADMK (Puratchi Thalavi Amma) O Panneerselvam promised to bring back good governance in the State by cleansing the party and the government of the grip of Sasikala family.

He launched the campaign at Nagooranthottam on Monday for the April 12 by-poll in RK Nagar.
Promising to punish those who were responsible for the death of Jayalalithaa, he said the rival candidate T T V Dhinakaran was none but the one who was chased away from Poes Garden by her.

“In 2007 itself, Amma ordered him not to step into Parliament when he was a Rajya Sabha Member. Later, he was expelled from the party in 2011. Such a person whom Amma loathed is claiming to work for fulfilling the ideals of Amma,” he said.

Sounding confident of posting victory for E Madhusudanan, he said, “We have the full blessings of Amma. Madhusudanan had been the dummy candidate for her twice. He is sure to win and we will bring back good governance soon.” Panneerselvam said the party and the government would soon be freed from the clutches of Sasikala family.

Referring to the complaint lodged by T T V Dhinakaran with the Election Commission over usage of electric pole with two lamps symbol, the rebel leader stated Dhinakaran was making such baseless charges after getting disheartened by the overwhelming support that his candidate had been receiving.

During electioneering, Panneerselvam christened two kids as Ramachandran and Jayaramachandran. He toured the streets and arterial roads in 39th ward on an open jeep garnering support for Madhusudanan.
