CHENNAI: A kerosene bomb was allegedly hurled at a bridegroom’s house at Kelly’s a day before his wedding on Saturday morning.

Police said Abdul Kadheer, 28, an auditor, resides at Kelly’s. “On Saturday morning, around 4.30 am, the family members and neighbours woke up to the sound of a huge blast. They came out of the house only to find the curtain at the main door on fire and an empty kerosene bottle,” said a police source. They immediately informed the police.

Abdul was to get married to one Thaseem Fathima at Egmore on Sunday. Police have collected CCTV footage, in which a man identified as Mudasir, brother-in-law of the bride, was seen hurling the kerosene bomb at the house and escaping.

The Anna Salai police have registered a case and further investigations are on. Investigations revealed that Thaseem’s sister and her husband were against the wedding and decided to stop it.
