CHENNAI: Advocate-General Vijay Narayan On Tuesday declined to accept the apology tendered by Thanga Tamil Selvan, one of the 18 MLAs disqualified by Assembly Speaker P Thanapal.
Originally, advocate Srimathy has lodged a complaint with the Advocate-General, seeking contempt proceedings against Selvan for his alleged comments against Chief Justice Indira Banerjee and Justice M Sundar for their June 14 split verdict on their PILs and writ petitions challenging their disqualifications.

And the AG has issued summons to Selvan asking him to appear before him and explain his stand.
Accordingly, accompanied by his counsel Tamil Mani and T Mohan, Selvan appeared before the AG on Tuesday and tendered an unqualified and unconditional apology for his remarks against the judges. Declining to accept the apology, the Advocate-General told them that he was not the authority to accept it. The power is vested only with the judges concerned, he pointed out.
