CHENNAI: Recalling the testing times in the later part of 1980s when the late J Jayalalithaa had to weather political storms, rebel leader and independent MLA TTV Dhinakaran on Sunday said he would soon regain control of the AIADMK in a similar fashion.

Addressing his supporters at Ashok Nagar after opening the headquarters of his newly launched Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), he said Jayalalithaa too had opened a new office at Alwarpet before gaining control of the party office at Royapettah.

“Similarly, we will also get back the party office at Royapettah,” he said.
Lashing out at Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami over the Thoothukudi firing, he asked why the Chief Minister did not visit the spot.

Dhinakaran added that Jayalalithaa had visited places where catastrophe or clashes had occurred. Later, talking to reporters, he hailed DMK chief M Karunanidhi on his 95th birthday.
