CHENNAI: DMK working president MK Stalin on Saturday warned if Governor Banwarilal Purohit continued with his routine of reviewing government schemes in every district, the DMK would be forced to stage a massive protest against it across the State.

Stalin said this at the YMCA grounds where he, along with party functionaries, was kept after they courted arrest at Guindy earlier in the day while marching towards Raj Bhavan condemning the arrest of DMK party cadre in Namakkal district on Friday.

The DMK men were showing black flags to Governor Banwarilal Purohit when he arrived at Namakkal as part of his routine visit to districts.

The DMK had been staging protests wherever the Governor visited.

Answering queries of mediapersons ahead of his release in the evening, Stalin charged that  Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami was trying to suppress the voices of those rising against the anti-people policies of the State government.

“You (Governor) are dreaming of taking power in your hands and you have been acting like a Chief Minister. So, if you continue your review meetings, the DMK will stage a massive protest. Such a protest may be staged even tomorrow” Stalin added.
