CHENNAI: There is no presence of Naxals in Tamil Nadu. The State government will put down anti-social elements and Naxals with an iron hand if it finds any, said Pandiarajan, Tamil development Minister.
Ministers Pandiarajan and Kadambur Raju paid floral tributes to Kavignar Kannadasan’s portrait to mark his 92nd birth anniversary. Later, Pandiarajan told reporters “Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan is spreading wrong information. Last year, we allowed around 27,000 protests in the State. We want to address the issues in the beginning stage itself.”

During MGR’s rule, there were Naxal activities in Dharmapuri district and he put them down with an iron hand. Jayalalithaa also followed suit. Tamil Nadu is a peaceful State. “We will put down with an iron hand any terrorist activity in the State”, he said.

He said there was nothing wrong in the Governor touring and conducting inspections in the State. The Governor had not found anything wrong in the State government’s works. He never gave any instructions to the authorities. Hence, there is no problem with the Governor’s inspection.

“The tours would strengthen the activities of the State government and  encourage us. He is acting as per rights given to him.” His inspection would help to take the Central schemes to the masses. Hence, the DMK’s opposition was  unnecessary and it was neither legally correct nor ethical, he said.

Stalin dishonoured Hinduism, says Union Min

Tirunelveli: Alleging that DMK working president M K Stalin has dishonoured Hinduism by wiping out the holy ash smeared by the priests of Trichy Sri Ranganathaswamy temple on his forehead during his recent visit to a marriage hall near the temple, Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan, on Sunday, said that “hypocrites” like Stalin should not be allowed inside any temple. The minister asked him to tender an open apology. “Even an atheist Periyar did not wipe out the holy ash smeared by Kundrakudi Adigalar. That is culture,” Ponnar remarked.
