CHENNAI: When new political outfits are working to mobilise mass support, DMK president MK Stalin has instructed parliament segment in-charges to get details about membership enrolment of Rajini Makkal Mandram (RMM), Makkal Neethi Maiyam (MNM) and Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) and about influence of every political party and individuals of the area in order to know the ground reality.
In order to discuss the strategy to face the forthcoming parliamentary elections, a consultative meeting with in-charges of 40 parliamentary segments of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry and district secretaries of the party was held at the party headquarters recently. At the meeting, according to reliable sources, a section of district secretaries expressed their displeasure over appointment of parliament segment in-charges. But they were pacified by Durai Murugan, treasurer, with assurance that the importance of the district secretaries wouldn’t be belittled.

The in-charges were asked by Staling to get details about individual non-political personalities of every village and taluk, if any. One of the DMK parliament segment in-charges told Express, “We suspect that various reports have surfaced in media during the recent past that around one crore members had enrolled with RMM and AMMK. And significant numbers have enrolled with MNM too.  So, in order to have a proper assessment about their membership at grassroot-level, our leader has instructed us to get details about their outfits.”
