VCK supports black-flag protest against Greenfield Corridor project

DMK cadre staged a protest near the collectorate in Tiruvannamalai on Monday demanding State to consult the farmers before acquiring their lands for the proposed highway project.

CHENNAI: Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) president Thol Thirumavalavan, in a statement on Monday, extended his support to the black flag protest planned against the eight-lane Chennai-Salem Greenfield Corridor project.

PMK founder S Ramadoss, in a statement, charged that the CM’s statement claiming that farmers themselves had come forward to give their lands for the project, was aimed at creating confusion among the farmers. He said the claim was baseless and contrary to the ground reality. Ramadoss asked the State government to conduct a poll on the issue among the farmers and take a decision accordingly.
