CHENNAI: Along with reshuffling the state cabinet, hectic discussions are going on for finalising the transfer of secretaries of key departments, including certain officials in the office of Chief Minister MK Stalin. A G.O. in this regard is expected anytime.
Sources said around 25 IAS officers are expected to be transferred. While the chief minister’s principal secretary T Udhayachandran may become the finance secretary, N Muruganandam, who is holding the post now, is expected to be posted as one of the secretaries to the chief minister. Similarly, Chennai Corporation Commissioner Gagandeep Singh Bedi’s name is being considered for Secretary I to the CM in the place of Udhayachandran.
Rural Development Secretary P Amudha may be moved to the special programme implementation department while Tangedco chairman Rajesh Lakhoni may be shifted to some other key department. Besides, the transfer of top officials in the departments of dairy development, Adi Dravidar welfare, municipal administration and tourism is under consideration. Sources said the finalisation of the list of IAS officers to be transferred is getting delayed due to last-minute reconsiderations.
