CBI files chargesheet against Thanjavur PhD scholar for sexually exploiting kids

The charge sheet against the suspect, J Victor James Raja, was filed in a trial court at Thanjavur.

CHENNAI/THANJAVUR:  The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet against a 35-year-old Thanjavur-based PhD scholar, who was arrested on March 2023 for sexually abusing eight minors and selling their explicit videos online. 

The charge sheet against the suspect, J Victor James Raja, was filed in a trial court at Thanjavur. CBI in its statement said investigations revealed that Raja was sexually assaulting eight children, both male and female aged between 5-18 years, for the past couple of years.

It was alleged that the accused along with other unidentified suspects recorded the sexual abuse, criminally intimidated the minor victims, forced them to perform sexual activities with other children and with him and used children for pornographic purposes. 

CBI found Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) images and videos from Interpol’s Child Sexual Exploitation (ICSE) database. The analysis of the images using cyber forensic tools, the location of the incident was traced to Thanjavur district.  

Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused which led to recovery of incriminating electronic gadgets. A case was registered for allegedly creating, downloading and distributing material depicting children in a sexually explicit act in electronic form and he was arrested on March 2023, CBI stated.
