An office-bearer from TN Cooperative Department Employees union said, “This time, the officials didn’t check the procurement and delivery consignment in Madurai district. Based on initial reports, around 30 percent of the October batch of onions were decayed. This kind of failure of verification during procurement derails the entire initiative itself.”

An official from the cooperative department assured that the problem will be resolved. He said, “We have asked the salesman to remove the decayed onions and it will later be collected. Besides, the officials have promised more procurement will be made within two days for sale.”
