Honour Killing Claims 19-yr-old Girl

NALGONDA: Two incidents of murder occurred in the district on Friday and Saturday: in the first incident, armed robbers killed a woman during a house burglary in Bibinagar town  on Friday night, while in the second incident, the parents of teenaged girl killed her to protect the family’s honour at Ganugabanda village of Thungathurty mandal.

 According to police, the deceased girl B. Swapna (19), belonging to Yadava caste, was a resident of Ganugabanda village and was the only daughter of B. Lingaiah and  Bhuchamma. She had fallen in love with a fellow villager and an auto-driver named A. Praveen (24), belonging to the Gowd caste. In love for the last last three years, they had eloped three weeks back and got  married three days back. After returning to the village, they sought protection from the Tungaturthy police station stating that they faced threats from their parents. Fowlloing this, Tungaturthy SI Gowry Naidu called their parents and counseled them. 

  On Saturday, when Praveen went out for eraning his livelihood by driving the auto and his parents were awar at their farm, Lingaiah and Buchamma came to their hosue and forcibly took Swapna to their house. Lingaiah then attacked Swapna with an axe killing here on the spot. He them escaped from the spot.

According to villagers, Swapna’s parents  had never reconciled to her inter-caste marriage with Praveen despite the SI’s counseling.  Tungturthy CI Pardhasarathi and SI Gowry Naidu visited the spot and have launched a manhunt  for Lingaiah.

 According to police, a  woman named Md Nazeema (22) was killed and her husband Johny Pasha was seriously injured when they tried to resist a burglary attempt by armed burglars at their house at the Railway colony in Bibinagar on Friday night.

 They said that before breaking into Pasha’s house, the burglars had bolted the doors of all the neighbouring houses from outside. When they entered Pasha’s house, he and his wife tried to resist the burglary attempt and were hit by the burglars with iron rods. On hearing their screams, some neighbours came to their rescue after leaving their house from the back doors. While the injured couple was being shifted to a hospital,   Nazeema succumbed to her injuries. A seriously injured Pasha is undergoing treatment at the hospital. 

 District SP T. Prabhakar Rao and Bhongiri DSP Srinivas visited Pasha’s house on   Saturday morning. The police, who have taken up investigations, do not rule out   personal enemity between the attackers and the attacked in the case.

They have formed special teams to nab the accused. Bibinagar CI Narendar Gowd and SI Devendar Reddy are investigating the case.
