HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has sought constitution of a new tribunal for deciding the share of Krishna waters among riparian states - AP, Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra.
A delegation led by Telangana Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao met Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharathi in Delhi and made a request to this effect.
They maintained that since Telangana is a new state, it deserved a fair share of waters. For that to happen, the delegation said that a fresh tribunal has to be constituted to listen to the arguments of all the riparian states. They wanted appointment of an expert committee pending constitution of a fresh tribunal for deciding the share of each state of Krishna waters.
