HYDERABAD: Muppidi Kiran Kumar saved the lives of four friends while they were being washed away in the swirling waters of the Beas in Himachal Pradesh on Sunday. Little did he care that this was throwing him depper into danger.

An expert swimmer himself, Kiran pushed four persons to the bank with all his might when he saw the group being washed away. While doing so, he himself was engulfed in the flooding waters and his whereabouts are yet to be traced.

Kiran, who is into the second year of his engineering course, was the leader of the team that went on the industrial tour to Himachal Pradesh.

His grief-stricken father M Venkataramana recalled, “Kiran is a brave boy. In fact, he drew inspiration from his elder brother who too has leadership qualities and never shied away from any challenge. I do not think anything wrong will happen to him. He is an expert swimmer and he must be safe somewhere.”

Venkatramana said Kiran took active part to make the industrial tour happen.
