Kavitha Helps IIIT Student to Take Forward Her Interstellar Endeavour

HYDERABAD: Telangana Jagruthi president and Nizamabad MP K Kavitha handed over a cheque for Rs one lakh to a IIIT student from the city who has been selected for the NASA Space Settlement Contest to be held in Toronto, Canada from May 20 to 24.

Hanmakonda Stella Kumari from Qutbullapur is studying her P2 at the IIIT at Idupulapaya in Kadapa district. The girl was already extended financial assistance of Rs two lakh by the State government from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.

As the amount is not enough to meet her travel expenses,  Kumari and her father, Prem Kumar, met Kavitha here on Sunday seeking her help. Kumari is one among the six-member team from India who will be participating in the tough contest. Kumari explained her project to Kavitha. According to Kumari, her project, OJAS —The Powerful, focuses on creating favourable conditions on other planets for humans to live.

“If the earth meets with any catastrophe, whether human beings can live on any planet other than ours is what the project deals with,’’ a release said.

Extending Rs one lakh assistance, Kavitha wished Kumari success in the contest as well as in her future endeavours.
