Munnurukapus Seek 20% Quota in Legislative Bodies

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Munnurukapu Mahasabha demanded political reservations in legislative and statutory bodies in consonance with their population in the State.

The Mahasabha’s general body meeting was held on Sunday where a resolution demanding 20 per cent quota in legislative and statutory bodies was passed. Munnurukapus constitute about 20 per cent of the state population. The Mahasabha also demanded that political parties allot party tickets according to their population in the upcoming Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) elections.

In the general body meeting, Kashetti Anand Kumar was elected as the new president of the Mahasabha. Hundreds of Munnurukapu community members from across the 10 districts attended the meeting.

The Mahasabha decided to organise a massive Munnurukapu Garjana with atleast five lakh community members and invite Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao for the meet.

Meanwhile, the meeting unanimously disqualified Pilli Srinivas as the president as he lost confidence of the general body and elected a new executive body following a series of allegations against him.
