Azad Calls KCR and Co a Band of Thieves

HYDERABAD: Taking exception to ‘poaching’ of Opposition legislators by the ruling TRS, former Union minister and senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Friday described the KCR regime as a ‘band of thieves’.

Addressing a press conference with AICC leaders Vayalar Ravi and RC Kunthia, Azad asserted that the Congress would emerge victorious in the MLC polls.

Hitting out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Azad said the Gujarat strongman was running a “government of lies”. He termed the government’s claim of having brought down prices of essential commodities the biggest joke of the century.

Contrary to Modi’s claims in his open letter, Azad said, prices have not come down. “Though the price of a barrel of crude oil in the international market decreased from $ 120 to $ 48, petrol prices in the country have not come down,” he pointed out. He also described the Modi administration as “headless” and pointed out that key constitutional posts like that of the Central Vigilance Commissioner and RTI, Information Commissioner have not been filled. “Today, there are as many as 39,000 applications pending with the RTI Commission and there are no officers to go through them,” he said.
