HYDERABAD: In an effort to transform the TDP into a national party, leaders and cadre on Friday unanimously elected N Chandrababu Naidu as its first Central Committee president.

The election of Naidu as the Central Committee president would pave the way for emergence of TDP as a national party in future.

About 30 sets of nomination papers were filed by several leaders from AP and Telangana in favour of Naidu and another 30 members seconded his candidature during the second day of Mahanadu on Thursday.

As no other leader had filed nomination papers for the post, the election committee announced Naidu’s unanimous election for the top post on Friday, the concluding day of party’s Mahanadu. With this, the party began the formalities to get recognition as a national party. “I will never forget your support. I would see that the party supports all our cadre who have been working hard for its success. The party would not let down its workers,” he said.
