Don't Resort to Distress Sale: Harish Rao

HYDERABAD: Marketing minister T Harish Rao called upon the cotton farmers in the state not to resort to distress sale of cotton to private agencies. He asked the farmers to sell cotton only to Cotton Corporation of India (CCI). Reviewing the cotton purchase on Friday, Harish Rao expressed happiness over the opening of 83 purchasing centres in the state by the CCI. The minister directed the officials to advise  the farmers not to sell cotton to private traders.

He also reviewed the construction of new godowns, cold storage, computerisation of market yards, insurance scheme to hamalis. He directed officials to complete the insurance policy of all hamalis by December 30.

The minister also announced that the fruit market at Hayathnagar in Rangareddy would be shifted to Koheda and directed the officials to acquire required land at Koheda.
