HYDERABAD: Stating that the government would roll out a series of measures in three months to ensure that all TSRTC buses in GHMC area use CNG fuel, transport minister P Mahendar Reddy has said that currently 134 public transport buses were utilising CNG fuel.
The minister told the Legislative Council on Monday that the state government was committed to reduce the pollution levels in the GHMC area.
To start with, he said the government has planned to operate another 220 TSRTC buses utilising CNG fuel, taking the total number of such buses to 354.
Listing out the measures taken by the department to bring down the pollution levels in the GHMC area, he said more than 15-year-old vehicles have been prohibited from plying on the roads.
A model vehicle inspection and certification centre is functioning on the city suburbs for conducting scientific inspection and fitness certification to check pollutants emitted by vehicles, he added.
