EVMs to Have Candidates' Pics

HYDERABAD: For the first time contestant photograph will be displayed on Electronic Voting Machines (EVM) and a specific symbol will be allotted to None of The Above (NOTA) in bye elections for Warangal Parliamentary constituency (PC), said Bhanwar Lal Chief Electoral Officer.

“There are total 14,75,311 voters in Warangal PC and those who do not have votes can apply till October 25. All the voters should check whether their names are there in voters list,” said Bhanwar Lal speaking about the arrangements for Warangal PC bye elections, in Hyderabad on Friday.

As Model Code of Conduct is already in vogue in Warangal, everyone should follow it. Ministers should not travel in official vehicles. Three flying squads for each assembly constituency and check posts will be set up.  About 76.15 percentage of voting was registered in 2014 elections and we are expecting about 76 percent this time, further said Bhanwar Lal.

Bhanwar Lal urged media not to encourage paid news and said that action will be taken on those publishing and telecasting paid news. He also pointed out on the occasion that notification for Narayankhed assembly constituency may be released in November.

To find out whether the voters from Warangal PC, have their vote in the voters list they can type ‘vote’ and then ‘voter ID number’ and send SMS to number 8790499899.
