Stone Laid for Dedicated Water Pipeline in Madhapur

HYDERABAD: For improving the drinking water supply in the information technology hub of Madhapur in the city, minister for IT and  panchayat raj KT Rama Rao laid the foundation stone for laying a 1,000-mm-dia mild steel dedicated pipeline near Mind Space IT Park in the area on Friday.

The pipeline will be laid by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) from Raidurg Junction to Madhapur. The Rs 25-crore project will tap Krishna river water from KDWSP Phase-III to improve water supply to Madhapur TSIIC-IT sectors, proposed Games City in Hyderabad Knowledge City, Raidurg and other places.

Rama Rao, along with minister for transport P Mahender Reddy, said the state government was taking all steps to bring the remaining 45 millions gallons of water from Phase-3 of Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project from the middle of November and from the Godavari Drinking Water Supply Project at Yellampally in December this year.

Due to scanty rainfall this year, the water of Osmansagar, Himayatsagar, Manjira and Singur reservoirs have reached alarming levels. 

Dedicated pipelines are being laid to IT sector area as the government has decided to provide infrastructure such as road, power, water and sewerage up to the doorstep of the 1T/ITES layouts, parks, SEZs and campuses of IT Industry.

The Telangana State Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Limited (TSIIC) has been nominated as the nodal agency of the government’s ITE&C department for development of IT parks,IT SEZs and IT layouts for coordinating with the government agencies concerned and to provide basic infrastructure in the proposed IT parks, SEZs and campuses.

The ITE&C department and TSIIC have developed IT parks at Madhapur in an extent of about 793 acres. About 40 noted international IT companies have established their offices in the area and provided employment to more than 4 lakh software professionals. TSIIC Limited has provided  the required infrastructure in the IT parks.

Now to improve the infrastructure further, the government and TSIIC Limited have taken up laying of water pipelines.

Apart from laying water pipelines, 7.70 km long roads in IALA-Madhapur area will be recarpeted (black-topped) with ITE&C department funds at a cost of Rs 16 crore, for which the foundation stone has been laid.
