'Caste and Religion, Ploy Used by Britishers'

HYDERABAD:  Saying that the differences between people of India in the name of caste and religion was a ploy of the Britishers to divide and rule, former BJP idealogue, social activist and thinker KN Govindacharya gave a call for unity among people of all sections, inculcating and following the rich civilisation values of Bharat, promoting Indian goods, striving to achieve perfection and credibility in all activities.

“Educationists institutions should be governed by educationists and law and order should be maintained by law enforcing agencies. But in our country one steps into another’s shoes, further complicating the issues. Government should skillfully handle the unrest in universities.

In the process of bringing situation into control it should not commit the mistake of giving an opportunity for the oppressors to present themselves as victims,” he said. He was in the city on Friday to deliver a talk on ‘Nationalism’.

“Bharat has a civilisation of 5000 years. The challenges being faced by India are irrelevant in the long term. But the Government should strive for social integration and should not be partisan or indulge in appeasing certain sections of society. When it has to deal with elements that create unrest, it should act firmly and send a message that it means business,” he further added.

A core nationalist and proponent of Hindutva, Govindacharya shot back at Owaisi brothers’ statements, and said “I never use the word ‘India’. I use ‘Bharat’. Hindutva is a way of life and is the backbone of Bharat.

We respect the nation by saying Bharat Maa. That’s our sanskaar. Who cares and what difference does it makes if one person does not do it?” A loud applause followed.

We do not fear the elements who want to create a rift between various sections, We are only concerned that they may damage the social fabric of our society, stressed Govindacharya.

He also supported reviewing the constitution, as it has only resulted in creating a nation of unrest and tension. The talk was orgainsed by ‘Awareness in Action’ organisation.
