KHAMMAM: In a ghastly incident, two persons were buried alive and  and another sustained severe injuries at an Open Cast  (OC) mine of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) near Yellandu town on Saturday.

According to sources, the deceased have been identified as V Babu (45) and Borra Seeta Ramulu (50) and the injured Bangari Venkanna. All three are daily-wage labourers.  They went to JK-5 Open Cast mine in a tractor to collect clay illegally for filling the basement of a house.

While they were filling the clay into the tractor, a large quantity fell on  them, killing Babu and Ramulu instantaneously and severely injuring Venkanna, who was shifted to a government hospital. The tractor driver fled after the incident. Yellandu police registered a case and probe is on.

Sources allege had SCCL employed effective security measures at its OC mine, this tragic incident may have been averted.
