Oppn parties behaving like drama companies: Talasani

HYDERABAD: Animal husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav has called the opposition parties which are agitating against construction of Mallanna Sagar reservoir as “drama companies and thieves”.

He has even threatened the agitators that the police will not only arrest them but also send them to jails if they oppose the construction of irrigation projects.

Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat here on Tuesday, the minister accused the TDP, Congress and BJP of adopting double standards. “The TDP government in AP is acquiring huge extent of land for Machilipatnam port. But the same party is opposing land acquisition in TS,” he alleged.

The Congress, which pocketed money by giving mobilisation advance for irrigation projects, was now strangely opposing the construction of irrigation projects, Yadav remarked.

“The government will not be deterred by the obstacles being created by the opposition. We will construct the projects at any cost,” he asserted.

The Mallanna Sagar project would benefit farmers in 1,100 villages whereas the number of villages facing submergence under the proposed project was just 11, he claimed. The government would not shiver just because a group of ten leaders shout against its policies, he said.
