Serpentine Queues at Vemulawada Temple to Witness Lord's Wedding

KARIMNAGAR:  A sea of devotees converged at the Vemulavada Temple on Saturday to witness the celestial wedding of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi.

In line with the traditions of ‘Shivakalayanotsava’, transgenders from Mumbai, Hyderabad and other places participated in the Lord’s wedding, tied the nuptial knot and poured ‘Talambralu’ on each other.

Earlier in the day, Vedic scholars of the temple performed Mahanyasa Ekadasa Rudrabhishekam.

Shivakalyanam is an age old tradition performed after Holi. As per traditions, temple EO Dusa Rajeshwar presented silk clothes to the Lord and his consort Parvathi. Nagara panchyat president N Uma also presented silk clothes.

In view of the swell in number of devotees, temple officials allowed them to offer prayers from Nandi idol while many could only witness Srigradarshanam.
