Notorious Tatlu Baaji gang members arrested by Telangana Police 

The gang is said to be involved in several cases of cheating, kidnaps and other offences in Hyderabad and the surrounding regions.

HYDERABAD: Six members of notorious Tatlu Baji inter-state gang hailing from Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan were arrested by Telangana Police from Alwar district of Rajasthan. Police have seized a country-made weapon and two live rounds bullets from the gang members.

The gang is said to be involved in several cases of cheating, kidnaps and other offences in Hyderabad and the surrounding regions.

Police said the gang members used to target businessman and lure them with business proposals to Rajasthan and other places. The businessmen who turned up, were abducted and photos of them gunpoint were sent to the family members to extort money.

In one such case, on March 24, the gang contacted D Anjaiah of Siri Technology, Hyderabad. The gang ‘struck’ a deal with the company for the purchase of 850 CCTVs to be installed in Gyan Vigyan Institute of Education, at Alwar, Rajasthan.

When Anjaiah went to Alwar for a demo, he was kidnapped at gun point, robbed of Rs 30,000 cash and kept under confinement in a jungle. Later, they sent his photographs to the family members and demanded Rs 5 lakhs as ransom for his release.

On negotiation, a deal worth Rs 1.5 lakh was struck and after the money was transferred, Anjaiah was released.

During investigation, police nabbed the six members of the gang from Alwar.

These gangs are famous as Tatlu Baaji gang, police said adding they have identified 25 similar gangs with about 100 members spread over 35 villages in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

According to police, most of the offenders possess country-made fire arms and live cartridges.
