BJP cadre asked to get ready for early elections in Telangana

Party’s central leadership sends communique to state unit asking them to be prepared.

HYDERABAD:Providing the much needed basis for the ongoing political debates on the possibility of the state facing ‘early polls’,  it was none other than the BJP central leadership that sent a communique to its state unit to get ready for ‘snap polls’.

The Delhi bosses of the saffron party, who are keen on continuing the party’s winning streak even in Telangana, according to sources, asked their state leadership to intensify efforts to strengthen the party in at least 55 to 65 Assembly segments wherein Muslim voters are present by undertaking agitations against government’s move to provide 12 per cent reservations to Muslims.

Party sources said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is planning to hold simultaneous polls to both Lok Sabha and State Assemblies in November 2018 in tune with his slogan, ‘one nation-one election’. Therefore, the BJP Central leadership has asked the party’s state leaders to organise more programmes to strengthen the party from booth level in at least 55 to 65 Assembly Constituencies and eight to 10 Lok Sabha segments where the party has scope to grow.

It is learnt that the party state leaders have been asked by their Delhi bosses to prepare a report identifying the segments where the party has immediate chances to improve its strength. The report will have to be presented before the party national president Amit Shah during his three-day visit to the State, which begins on May 23. “Based on the report, our party national president will hold meetings with booth level workers belonging to each segment to elicit their views on how to improve party’s strength in the state,” a senior leader of BJP said.

Party State unit chief K Laxman said, “The stage is set for early polls not only in the state but also across the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is of the view that continuous polls are hampering the development. Hence, he wants to hold polls to both Lok Sabha and State Assemblies at one go. Hence, we have already asked our party cadres to get ready for the snap polls to be held in 2018.” “There is a political vacuum in the State, following Congress Party’s decimation. BJP is the only alternative to the ruling TRS. It will be proved by the next Assembly elections,” he said.
