HYDERABAD: The death of a sub-inspector and a woman trainee constable in a road accident on Saturday night has raised several doubts. Another woman trainee constable is undergoing treatment and police are waiting to hear from her to several questions that are being raised.
Though all three were destined to go to their homes in different directions, a preliminary investigation has found that they were travelling in the SI’s car towards Shamshabad on Saturday night.
The sub-inspector was not undergoing any training at Telangana State Police Academy, but he had picked up the two trainee women constables at a temple located near the Academy on Saturday evening.
In the accident, Vikarabad special branch sub-inspector Mohammed Khaleel who was behind the wheel died on the spot, while trainee woman constable Keethi of Ramanthapur died while undergoing treatment at Care hospital.
Another woman trainee constable Mamatha of Amberpet is undergoing treatment for multiple injuries she received when the car she was travelling along the duo, rammed a road divider.
“Mamatha is undergoing treatment and is stated to be out of danger,” said Rajendranagar SI K Venkat Reddy, who is probing the case. He said that we are verifying the call data analysis of the deceased SI, trainee constable Keerthi and also of Mamatha, to find out how and when they exactly met on Saturday and where were they going.
“The SI had called his wife on Saturday morning and informed that he is coming home, but did not inform the time. He was not in training, but the two women were,” said SI. The SI’s car also did not enter the academy premises on Saturday, according to the footage of CCTV cameras. “We are also verifying the reason why he was there near Academy. Once Mamatha comes out of shock, she will be questioned about the series of incidents that took place before the road accident,” said Venkat Reddy.
The SI’s son is undergoing long-term coaching at a private college the in city while his daughter is in Class X.
