Union minister Dattatreya seeks 200 acres for new EFLU campus

Bandaru Dattatreya said that if state government provides 200 acres land, the Central government will construct a new campus for EFLU

HYDERABAD: Union minister and Member of Parliament from Secunderabad, Bandaru Dattatreya brought to fore from back-burner, the long pending plan of shifting the English and Foreign Language University (EFLU) campus to a new location. Dattatreya said that if state government provides 200 acres land, the Central government will construct a new campus for EFLU there. He said the new campus will be representative of a world class international university with more facilities and better infrastructure.

Dattatreya said, “If the TS government allocates 200 acres land in the coming two years, I will speak with the Union HRD minister, Prakash Javadekar and ensure that the new EFLU campus is constructed there.”  State government might not mind if EFLU shifts from its present campus as it occupies 30 acres of prime land near Tarnaka crossroads.

It was way back in 2008 during YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s rule that the then AP government had identified 90 acres of land in Nalgonda for EFLU to be shifted.  However, the plan never bore fruit. He said that the reason why EFLU was not shifted to Nalgonda was due to the presence of high flouride content in groundwater at Nalgonda.
