National Commission for Scheduled Castes  asks CS, DGP to submit report on Nerella incident

Taking view of the allegations of torture of youth belonging to SC community by the Nerella police for setting ablaze sand lorries, National Commission for Scheduled Castes

HYDERABAD: Taking a view of the allegations of torture of youth belonging to SC community by the Nerella police for setting ablaze sand lorries, National Commission for Scheduled Castes had asked Telangana State Chief Secretary and DGP to submit information on the action taken into the allegations of torture of the SC youth.“The report should have details of the action taken under the SC and ST Prevention of Atrocities Act, 2015 and the Rules, 2016, thereof,” NCSC asked the CS and DGP.

The NCSC want the report to be sent by fax. “In case the commission does not receive from you within stipulated time, Commission may exercise powers of Civil Courts conferred on it under Article 338 of Constitution of India and issue a summons for your appearance in person or by a representative before Commission,” notice said. Meanwhile, a division bench of Hyderabad High Court on Tuesday will hear the case regarding the alleged torture of youth, based on the letter written by former judge of high court.
The bench comprising ACJ Ramesh Ranganathan and Justice J Uma Devi treated the letter written by Justice Chandra Kumar as a PIL case.

Justice Chandra Kumar, in his letter to the Chief Justice, sought court’s intervention to do justice to the victims. He requested the court to direct the government to pay `10 lakh as compensation to victims.
In a related development, Rajanna Sircilla SP Vishwajit Kampati, who is facing allegations of being responsible for the torture of Nerella youth, was nominated by Union Ministry of Home Affairs for annual visit of police party to Hot Springs in Ladakh for one month from August 24. In his absence, Karimnagar police commissioner V B Kamalasan Reddy will be the incharge SP of Rajanna Sircilla.
