Hyderabad HC sets aside additional public prosecutors recruitment to 13 Rangareddy district courts

The petitioners pointed out that selection of candidates was being conducted against prescribed guidelines and large-scale irregularities were taking place in the selection process.

HYDERABAD: In a significant development, a division bench of the High Court on Tuesday set aside the recent appointments made to the posts of additional public prosecutors to 13 courts in Rangareddy district and directed the Telangana government to take up fresh selection process and complete it within three months.

The bench passed these orders on a batch of petitions filed to challenge the appointment of additional PPs for the 13 courts in RR district. The petitioners pointed out that selection of candidates was being conducted against prescribed guidelines and large-scale irregularities were taking place in the selection process.

On an earlier occasion, the bench had called for all records pertaining to the said appointments and asked the government to explain the method adopted for making the said appointments.

On Tuesday, the government counsel informed the court that the procedure contemplated for the above appointments was not fully followed. The bench then set aside the appointments already made and directed the state to take up fresh appointment process and complete it in three months and disposed of the case.
