CM considering prakash reddy for AG post in Telangana?

The resignation of Telangana advocate general K Ramakrishna Reddy on July 12 has left the post vacant for a new advocate.

HYDERABAD: In a significant development, Telangana advocate general K Ramakrishna Reddy resigned to his post on Wednesday. He sent his resignation letter to the chief minister’s office.It is learnt that there has been pressure from the CMO for his replacement as the government is not satisfied with the ‘outcome’ of several cases before the Hyderabad High Court in the last two years. 

It may be recalled that there was setback to the Telangana government in several cases in the High Court. The court has granted stay on issues pertaining to GO 123 (land acquisition for various irrigation projects in the state), stay on regularisation of contract employees, stay on compassionate appointments in Singareni collieiries and so on.

Meanwhile, Ramakrishna Reddy, talking to Express, said there is no specific reason for his decision to resign to the post. “I have been in the post for the last three years. I took charge on June 23, 2014.There is no difference of opinion with the government. Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has treated me very well. I have high regards for the chief minister,’’ he said. It is further learnt that the chief minister is considering senior counsel D Prakash Reddy, a practicing advocate in the High Court, for the AG post. A final decision will be taken soon in this regard.
