Agriculture sector to get 24 hrs power supply

KARIMNAGAR: There is a good news for farmers as they will get uninterrupted power supply for agriculture purposes Monday midnight onwards. Northern Power Distribution Company Limited (NPDCL) authorities would be supplying 24 hours power to farming sector on a pilot basis in erstwhile Karimnagar district.

NPDCL superintendent engineer K Madhava Rao said that Karimnagar would be the second district after Medak in the state where 24 hours power would be supplied to farming sector.

He requested all the farmers to be remove automatic starters as there would be continuous power supply.
According to SE, in erstwhile Karimnagar about 3.17 lakh farmers were using 3 lakh pump sets for irrigation. About 11.452 million units of power was being consumed everyday.

The SE said that currently the power demand in the district is 614 MW and with the implementation of 24 hours power supply another 200 MW of demand may increase.
