Charmme moves High Court against collection of blood samples 

Film actress Charmme Kaur moved the Hyderabad High Court seeking directions to the authorities of prohibition and excise department that she be questioned in the presence of her lawyers.

HYDERABAD: Film actress Charmme Kaur on Monday moved the Hyderabad High Court seeking directions to the authorities of prohibition and excise department that she be questioned in the presence of her lawyers and women officers. 

“I need legal assistance during the enquiry to protect my fundamental rights and also to avoid torture, coercion and threat from the authorities,” she said in her petition. Charmme also sought court directions to the authorities to follow the mandate of Article 20 (3) of the Constitution by not taking compelled testimony from her and also collecting blood, hair and nail samples by way of coercion. 

Charmme is one of the 12 personalities from the Telugu film industry summoned by the SIT for questioning in the drug racket case. She was served notice to appear before the SIT on July 26.
Charmme, in her petition, said that she apprehended that there was every possibility of the SIT compelling her to give false statements in the drugs case and they may take her blood, hair and nail samples against her will.

The principal secretary, the commissioner and the director of enforcement of the prohibition and excise department and SIT superintendent were named as respondents. The case is expected to come up for hearing on Tuesday.

Ex-manager of Kajal held for possessing ganja 
Hyderabad:  
Puttkar Ronson Joseph alias Johny Joseph, (38), a former manager of actress Kajal Aggarwal, was arrested on Monday from his house here, as he was found to be in possession of 4 gm of dry ganja.  Under NDPS Act, possession, consumption, sale,  letting out the premises for drug consumption and instances of previous consumption are offences.
