Miyapur land scam: Congress to seek governor’s intervention

Uttam, Jana visit Miyapur lands; accuse KCR’s family of being involved in the scam and looting state’s resources

HYDERABAD: Wondering at the way Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao stated that the Miyapur land scam had not caused any loss to the exchequer, Congress has decided to urge Governor ESL Narasimhan to act against perpetrators of the land scam by using his discretionary powers under Section 8 of AP Reorganisation Act, 2014.

“How can the CM shamelessly say that the scam did not cause any loss to the exchequer? It is clearly evident that `15,000 crore worth of land was illegally registered in the names of private persons who are close to TRS leadership. Goldstone Prasad, a key accused in the scam, has close links with all the top persons in the government.

A member of Prasad’s family is still working as secretary in the CMO. KCR’s family was involved in the scam. On Thursday we will meet the governor,” TPCC chief N Uttam Kumar Reddy said here on Wednesday.

A day after TDP leaders had urged the Governor to act against the perpetrators, a delegation of Congress leaders led by Uttam Kumar and leader of the opposition K Jana Reddy visited the Miyapur lands on Wednesday.

Veteran leader V Hanumantha Rao said they were planning to call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union home minister Rajnath Singh to bring the scam to their notice. He suggested that the TPCC chief  lead an all-party delegation to Delhi in this regard.

Revanth Reddy scoffs at KCR’s remark
Hyderabad:
State TDP working president A Revanth Reddy has written an open letter to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, scoffing at his statement that the exchequer had not lost a single rupee by the fraudulent registration of lands in Miyapur.

A day after Rao had said the government lands in Miyapur were in government’s possession and no private person had taken physical possession of the lands, Reddy on Wednesday posed questions to Rao on the issue in his letter. “If you believe that no irregularity had taken place, why did the government transfer 72 sub-registrars? Why are you afraid of handing over the probe to CBI if your statement is true?” he asked KCR.
