HYDERABAD: Scrapping the existing three-tier employment recruitment system in the state, the state Cabinet approved the two-tier system of recruitment. Hereafter, only district and state cadre posts will be available and there will be no zonal-level posts. Which means, the zonal system has been scrapped.

“We have changed the recruitment of jobs from three-tier to two-tier system.  We will send the Cabinet decision to the Centre for consent of the President,” deputy chief minister K Srihari told reporters after Cabinet meeting.

The zonal system was introduced in the state by the Presidential Order, earlier. Thus, the two-tier system also requires amendments to Article 371(D) of the Constitution. “The Cabinet also constituted an official committee under the chairmanship of the chief secretary for further study on introduction of two-tier system of recruitment,” Srihari said.

It may be recalled that after the formation of Telangana state, the state government had decided to cancel the zonal system.
