Telangana sub-inspector shoots wife dead

HYDERABAD: A sub-inspector of the Telangana police shot dead his wife with his service revolver and then shot himself in the temple on Friday.

Sub-inspector G Chitti Babu was posted to the Dubbak police station in the Siddipet police commissionerate. On Friday afternoon, policemen in the Dubbaka police station heard gunfire from the inspector's quarters next door and rushed over. They found Chitti Babu's wife Saroja shot dead, and the inspector himself with gunshot wounds in the temple.

The sub-inspector was shifted to a private hospital in Hyderabad. His condition is said to be serious.

Though the exact cause of the shootings is not known, family members alleged that the sub-inspector was under great pressure at work. It is also said that Chitti Babu has been suspended from service on charges of corrupt activities but the orders had not been served yet.
