Separate CEOs to be appointed for Telangana, Andhra Pradesh

 The Election Commission of India (ECI) is likely to appoint separate Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) for both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States, soon. 

HYDERABAD: The Election Commission of India (ECI) is likely to appoint separate Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) for both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana States, soon. Following the retirement of Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwar Lal, a four days ago, who served as a common CEO for both the States after the formation of TS, ECI reportedly sought the names from both the States for appointment of separate CEOs. 
According to sources, ECI too asked the governments of both AP and TS to send the panel of names for the appointment of CEOs for the respective States.

Sources said TS government was considering names of four IAS officers and list would be sent to ECI soon. TS government, which has to send the names of at least three IAS officers, is reportedly considering the names of four IAS officers. The names of IAS officers- Shashank Goel, G Ashok Kumar, Rajat Kumar and Vikas Raj, are said to be under consideration.

“The list has been prepared and sent for the approval of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao. Once, the Chief Minister finalises the panel, the list would be sent to the Central government, which would select one officer for the post of CEO for state,” a senior official told Express.
